2019: Group lists conditions for supporting aspirant from Osun East

A group of artisans in Ijesa North and South Federal Constituencies of Osun State has listed conditions that must be met before it would pledge support for any aspirant that intends to represent Osun East Senatorial District in 2019 general elections.

Meeting under the aegis of League of Ijesaland Artisans (LIA), the group after its September monthly meeting in Ilesha, said personality that has been of help in the past or capable of adding value to their trade would be supported in the senatorial election.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Apostle John Adeyemo said members of the league are not politicians. He however, described them as core election deciders in Ijesaland.
He said artisans in Ijesaland are closely monitoring how initiative introduced by the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, is bringing attention of the global community to the locally-made goods in the state, hence their decision to support only the man with similar vision.
Adeyemo added: “We are not politicians. We have our jobs. But whatever will add value to our trade, we don’t joke with it. It is in the news how Abia governor has practically turned himself to marketing manager to artisans in Abia State, helping them to market their wares across the globe.
“Here in Ijesaland, we want a man with such capacity too as Senator come 2019. By that time, governorship seat will be leaving our Senatorial district. Because of this, we must look well before we choose who will be our Senator.
“Owing to this fact, we have decided to look at the direction of Prince Francis Ade Fadahunshi, if he chooses to run. This goes beyond party matter. He has demonstrated his capacity to market us and our products to the world before. We have good testimonies in this regard.
“It is our belief that, if given such an opportunity, he could use his links and connection to assist us in selling our products. The gains will not be for us alone, but for Ijesaland and the entire state.”
