The Centre for Management Development (CMD) said it had completed a needs assessment programme for all the states and FCT to enable them to address their various skills and manpower needs.
The Director-General of the Centre, Dr Kabir Usman, told newsmen on Monday in Abuja that the centre had collated the necessary data on needs assessment and would soon finalise its report for submission to the state governors to address identified gaps.
Usman announced that the centre, a resource institution, promoting quality in management training in Nigeria, would begin the accreditation of management consultants and training institutions next week nationwide.
He added that quacks and illegal consulting organisations operating in the country would be tackled.
He said the CMD had a database of institutions doing management training and consultancy services, adding that it included those accredited and those doing programmes without criteria as well as others whose accreditation would be reviewed.
The centre, he said, would also introduce e-accreditation to enhance its training package both in the private and public sectors.
According to the CMD boss, the centre has established a library in Lagos for electronic use with more than 50,000 books for research and other beneficial activities.
Commenting on the proposed National Training Policy, Usman said work was ongoing in spite of paucity of fund, adding that the MDG fund was used on a draft of the policy in the past before it dried up.
He said the current action was enormous and involved a lot of desk work and consultations with the public and private sectors as well as other stakeholders, adding that the efforts would be increased in view of the importance of the policy to national development.
Commenting on agitation for restructuring of the country and hate speech syndrome, Kabo said CMD was interested in organising activities, mostly training on conflict resolution and other methods, in both sectors to contain the situation.
He opined that calls for restructuring could arise in a situation of imbalance and people feeling unfairly treated but that in all cases, dialogue could be applied, especially before workers could resort to strikes as a last solution to industrial dispute .(NAN)
