NAHCO joins Aviance global partnership

Following its application to become a full member of the alliance and a successful audit of its operations, the board of directors of aviance Ltd voted in favour of NAHCo’s membership into the alliance at the Ground Handling International conference in Marrakech , Morocco .
Aviance was founded in 2000 and now consists of 11 internationally reputed handling companies, providing services for passengers, aircraft and cargo in 15 countries.
Its members are: ADP – France, Bidair – South Africa, Aviance Ghana- Ghana, ATS – Canada & USA, Aviance UK – Ireland & United Kingdom, Celebi Ground Handling Inc. – Hungary & Turkey, Flightcare – Belgium, Italy & Spain, Fraport Austria – Austria, Laufer-GHI – Israel, NAHCO – Nigeria, SEA Handling – Italy
With the admission, NAHCo becomes the 12th member of the alliance which operates with over 21,000 employees in 87 airports in 15 countries.
Kristof Henot, NAHCo’s Chief Operating Officer, noted that NAHCo’s admission to the aviance “should be seen as a milestone paving the way to sustainability and expansion both domestically and into the sub-region”.
NAHCo offers comprehensive handling services to 30 out of the 35 airlines operating in Nigeria through the major airports in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Jos, Enugu, and Kano . The Company is owned 40 per cent by British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, and Sabena (in liquidation), while over 60,000 Nigerian investors own the remaining 60 per cent.
NAHCo it will be recalled, operated as a government-owned company from 1979 till 2005 when it was privatised through the sale of Government’s 60 per cent shareholding. NAHCo has consequently been listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange where its shares have provided over 1000 per cent capital appreciation to investors since listing in 2006.
Its annual turnover is 1.130billion euros.
Some of aviance’s major customers are: Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Air France, Alitalia, Air Jamaica, Delta Airlines, DHL, Easyjet, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, KLM, Emirates, etc. These are also NAHCo’s customers.
The concept of aviation alliance (aviance) is to develop synergies through co-operation, standardization and harmonization.


Alliance membership is governed by the Board of Directors and is subject to successfully demonstrating service standards and financial stability. NAHCo was adjudged to have met all eligibility criteria.
