UNISYS to improve revenue generation of FAAN
Aside the revenue, with the commissioning of the Integrated Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), which is to be powered by an international firm, UNISYS, passengers will now be having short stay at the airport.
The system when fully deployed, allows intending passengers to plan their flights by using their telephone or computer right in their homes to process their boarding pass.
With that major problem off the way, congestion at the airport is expected to reduce as most passengers would have been checked in, giving room for those with several luggage to go through check-in.
Working in conjunction with Maevis Nigeria Limited, the new equipment being installed at the airport will ensure that accurate billing and reconciliation is made, which will be a rapid departure from what was hitherto obtainable.
It would be recalled that FAAN and Maevis went into partnership last year with a view to achieve new trends in the aviation industry.
Taking aviation journalists round the data centre of the project, managing director of Maevis, Biodun Fagbemi said the equipment would be deployed for proper use off in February.
“The technology to drive the future has been brought into the country, by February we will be flagging it off for the whole world to see,” he said.
Fagbemi said the new check-in counters are to be installed as soon as the festive rush is over, which will reduce the number of passengers travelling.
He said the Data Center where information on aircraft, its type, weight and number of passengers can be determined is ready.
Aside, passengers are soon to get what he called Airport Cards which is aimed at making travelling seamless.
“With the airport card, you do not need to carry cash around, your finger print will be on it, infact, it is a card that will change the way of travelling”, he stated.
