BusinessDay... the voice of business: Aviation industry lacks qualified manpower -NCAA Aviation industry lacks qualified manpower -NCAA ================================================================================ Anonymous on 15 April, 2008 12:00:00 Harold Demuren, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Monday in Abuja said the aviation sector had shortage of qualified manpower. Demuren, who said this while speakingwith newsmen, noted that this includedpilots, technicians, aircraft specialists,air traffic controllers and other aviationstaff. “The greatest problem faced by the industry is shortage of manpower. We need manpower development. The people are old and aging and no training,’’ he said. “This also applies to West Africa. Thereis the need for regular training and re-training of aviation personnel to meet global challenges in the industry,’’ he added. Demuren also said funding of the industry was capital-intensive, adding that there was a need for government to appropriate adequate fund to the sector. According to him, this will enable theindustry to put in place standard infrastructure, thereby promoting aviation safety.
