The Federal Government has been advised to intensify efforts in providing necessary infrastructure that would make the country overcome its current economic challenges in 2017.
Samuel Nzekwe, a former President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) .
He said that provision of infrastructure was key to the growth of the nation’s economy.
The former ANAN chief identified stable electricity supply and good road network as part of the vital infrastructure that would make the environment conducive for the production sector and foreign investors to thrive.
“’The poor infrastructure, like irregular power supply, lack of good roads to transport goods and other hindrance had made numerous companies to leave for neighbouring countries and this has led to increase in unemployment rate,’’ he told NAN.
Nzekwe said that there was need for the Federal Government to create an enabling environment by focusing more on necessary infrastructure.
The former ANAN president said that this would enable the production sector to produce at the optimal level and attract new investors.
He, however, urged the Federal Government to make consistent policies that would be sustained and lead to meaningful results in the economy. (NAN)
