In line with its annual deliberate policy in motivating staff towards optimum productivity, the management of Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has rewarded 175 staff with various gifts and prizes.

The staff were rewarded for their outstanding financial performance in the 2016 financial year and long service years.

The awardees were presented with certificates and valued gifts ranging from a refrigerator, 11 washing machines, 22 generating sets of different sizes and 147 microwaves.

A total of 27 persons were rewarded for being the best credit and best non-credit staff.

Godwin Ehigiamusoe, Chairman and founder of LAPO, in his welcome address congratulated the awardees for their outstanding performance in the 2016 financial year as well as those who have served the organisation between 10 and 25 years.

Ehigiamusoe noted that the most fundamental and important resource in any organisation are its employees, opining that without committed employees failure is unavoidable.

The LAPO boss, who was represented by Christian Okojie, chairperson, LAPO Board of Directors, noted that through their performance the awardees in the best credit and best non-credit staff have succeeded in motivating other staff around them to give their best to the development and success of the organisation.

He said all the institutions in LAPO have undergone drastic changes within the last 30 years and witnessed exponential growth in spite of the very challenging environment.

He added that in 2016 alone, financial institutions in the LAPO system in and outside Nigeria collectively disbursed loans valued at N140.4billion

He also disclosed that LAPO currently has staff strength of 7,233 and customers’ base at 2.9 million in 30 states in addition to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to him, this feat would have been unachievable without the steadfastness and constancy of staff. You have no doubt contributed your quota to the growth and development of LAPO over the years and committed to our collective business of improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians especially the marginalised and the disadvantaged in the society.

“Our colleagues receiving various awards today are therefore, acknowledged and commended for their hard work and invaluable contributions to the achievement of these lofty ideas. I am convinced that you will continue to serve in the organisation in the same manner which has now accorded you this special recognition,” he stated.

He also said that a total of 131 staff were rewarded for their 10 years service with the organisation, one staff for 25 years, six staff 20 years service and 16 staff 15 years service respectively.

Ehigiamusoe explained that the best credit and best non-credit staff had during the 2016 financial year distinguished themselves in the performance of their various duties.

He said the Badagry branch emerged the best mega branch, Imota branch best regular branch, Makun branch as best super branch while in the LAPO Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative (LARDI) Benin (1) emerged the best branch with the highest loan portfolio with Achalla as the best branch with the highest savings portfolio in the period under review.
