Africa Investor partners private sector on infrastructural development
Allan Kamau, managing director, Africa Investor, disclosed that the essence of 2007 Ai Infrastructural Projects Summit is to get more funding into the continent to improve infrastructural development.
According to him, he said the Africa Investor wanted to attract more investments into the country, into the African region. We want to attract more capital flow into infrastructure projects in Africa. We want to see more money going into power, roads, into funding of social infrastructure. This is our ultimate goal."
Speaking at a media briefing organised by Africa Investor recently, the Pan-African media group, organizers of Ai Awards (AI), representatives of Oceanic Bank Plc, Vetiva Capital limited , Renaissance Group, Citigroup and Standard Bank expressed their delight in sponsoring the 2007 infrastructure Projects Summit organised by Africa Investor in Lagos Nigeria from November 7th to 8th.
The sponsors who unanimously agreed that endless business opportunities abound in the African environment with growth potential to bring about huge returns on investment, called on the various governments across Africa to encourage collaboration with the private sector in bringing about the infrastructural development in the African continent.
Allan Kamau said Africa Investor will look into about 100 projects which are "bankable" and also seek financiers for people with good business ideas.
The summit is billed to hold this week.
Meanwhile, the Africa Investor Awards are unique pan-African business and investment awards that recognise and reward the achievements of the private sector across wide-ranging sectors and disciplines. These awards attract the market leaders from across the continent and salute their achievements. The work of governments and NGOs is also celebrated.
