The portal which is the first of its kind in sub- Saharan Africa, represents the most advanced approach to share register administration. Speaking at the launch of the UBA Registrars Portal at the weekend, the chief executive officer of UBA Capital Market, Chika Mordi, said the product was designed for the convenience and comfort of investors since following investors’ growing sophistication, it became imperative to look at ways of serving them better and faster. The managing director of UBA Registrars,Peter Ashade, said the portal was a web, based application which allows access to information anytime and anywhere. He described it as a Three-in-One Package (‘3iOP’), which is tailor-made to address the needs of: Client-companies, Stockbrokers and shareholders in a manner that will add value to them. On the side of the client -company, he said they would enjoy accessibility to relevant information such as total shareholder data record, shareholders structure, shareholder range analysis, shareholder dividend and certificate details as well as statement of account. For the stockbrokers, he said the module offered firms direct access to information such as items lodged for verification, date verified, verification status, date forwarded to CSCS, and details of verified certificates. "In exceptional cases where an item is returned or unprocessed, the tracking module gives details and the reason for returning", he explained, adding that it would also solve missing lodgment, delayed verification, among others. Ashade said the third module of the portal offers major access to shareholders to get relevant information such as details of dividend payment, certificate history and statement of account. Lola Oyebadejo, President, institute of Capital Market Registrars, ICMR and former MD/ CEO, Union Registrar said the portal was the answer to a problem in Nigeria capital Market "What we are witnessing today is a landmark in the history of share administration in the country. With this latest product, those things that had posed a lot of problems to many of us in the past have become walkovers" She said.
