BusinessDay... the voice of business: Akwa Ibom petitions FG over ceded oil wells Akwa Ibom petitions FG over ceded oil wells ================================================================================ ANIEFIOK UDONQUAK on 29 January, 2008 01:00:00 Governor Godswill Akpabio who disclosed this at the monthly prayer meeting in Uyo, described the development as an unjust political situation which does not augur well for the development of the State. Akpabio equally frowned at the recent an attempt by some selfish Nigerians to re-introduce the obnoxious on-shore off-shore oil dichotomy between October and November 2007 thereby depriving the state of its right in the Federal allocation. The Governor expressed gratitude that the attemptfailed since according to him those who championed the course were unaware of the fact that the Supreme court that decide the case has given an order on the abrogated obnoxious policy that could not be reverted. Akpabio stated that the 186 oil wells allegedly ceded to Rivers State bear historical names such as Effiong, Okon and Etim written on them, ugly development, he revealed thus. This made the State government to petition the Federal government over the matter.
