Mobile marketing to gross $10 billion by 2011
At the present rate of growth, the value of the global of the mobile marketing market would reach $10 billion by 2011, it has been revealed.
Akin Naphtal, managing director, Instinct Media, the publisher of MobileWorld, a leading monthly mobile communications magazine who disclosed this in Lagos said that the rapid growth of access to mobile telephones across Africa is pushing up continent as the next big mobile marketing market.
He revealed that it is in the light of this that the company is hosting the ‘The 1st Africa Mobile Marketing & Advertising Summit 2008’ on April 24 at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.
Mobile marketing Association, USA reports that mobile marketing in Africa is currently worth US$4-billion while growth projections are around 25 percent for 2008, 40 percent for 2009 and peaking at 60 percent by 2010.
Reasons for such dynamic growth could be attributed to the availability of Third-Generation (3G) technology that provides cheaper high-end mobiles and evolution of brand mobile marketing.
According to Naphtal, what is certain is that this industry is growing, and growing fast. By attending the summit, delegates will learn how to take advantage of new revenue streams to drive growth in mobile data usage and generate highly profitable advertising revenue.
