A vicious cycle: cuts in news coverage alienate readers

Thirty-one percent of adult Americans say they’ve stopped using at least one news outlet because it no longer provides enough information, according to the Pew Research Center.

Of those people, 61 percent complain that the news outlet’s stories are less complete now than in the past. News organizations have cut staffs and reduced coverage as a way to save money as audiences dwindle.
