Have you heard the song by Tasha Cobbs feat Nicki Minaj and the controversy?

The collaboration between Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Nicki Minaj  on one of the tracks on the album Heart. Passion. Pursuit., which was released on August 25th 2017, has sparked an online debates across the internet with several persons of the opinion that a gospel minister should not be seen collaborating with a secular act.

Tasha Cobbs Leaonard is a renowned gospel artiste and a worshipper and Nicki Minaj is Hip-hop artist who rocketed to fame with tracks like “Super Bass,” “Starships,” and later “Anaconda.” She is the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously on the Billboard 100 chart.

On the release the Christian post says, “Cobbs Leonard released her album Heart. Passion. Pursuit on Friday which includes a feature by the rap mogul on the song “I’m Getting Ready.” While both women have been teasing the song for some time, Cobbs Leonard decided to share her gratitude for Minaj’s decision to praise God on the record, in an Instagram message”.

While a section of the public believe everyone is the same in the eyes of God and being a secular act does not stop Nicki Minaj from singing a gospel song. A majority of the public have expressed loudly their displeasure and opinion that both artistes should have stayed in their lanes.

A Nigerian minister, Pastor Murphy Ogbe, who is the Resident Pastor of The Eternal House of Glory Church, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom said, “As many as are led by the spirit are the sons of God. It is not ‘as many as are Christians.” says Pastor Ogbe. “God is spirit and they that worship must worship in spirit and in truth. That means that God is radioactive, not tangible. If Nicki Minaj ventures into a presence where God is, God will have to influence her directly or indirectly.”

“If she is a sinner and sang a song with Tasha Cobbs, then I believe that the spirit over Tasha Cobbs will overwrite any spirit which she came into that studio with. Given time, you will see the result of what just happened.”

Pastor John and Aventer Gray, associate pastors of Lakewood church says “he believe that anyone can worship God and that there are no rules and regulations about who can worship God and who can’t worship God. That the process of salvation and sanctification takes time and that Tasha opening her arms to Nicki Minaj isn’t wrong“.

Although the good book records that Jesus was criticised for mixing with tax collectors and being friends with sinners. Some believe by their utterances that singing with Nicki Minaj will contaminate her perfection.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard a few days after the release put out a social media post on why she will always keep Nicki Minaj covered in prayer, in a heartfelt message.

The internet is full of many criticisms proving what is the truth and what is not?
