Omaghomi from Festus Keyamo Chambers, handling the prosecution of George and five others, laid the complaint before Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the State High Court, Ikeja.
The other five accused, Aminu Dabo, Olusegun Abidoye, Abdullahi Aminu Tafida, Zanna Maidaribe and Sule Aliyu, were former board officials of the NPA, when George was the chairman.
The claim of the prosecutor stemmed from his inability to produce additional witness for the day, after the cross-examination of the seventh witness.
The cross examination of the seventh witness, Zeuwa Okorocha from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by the defence counsel lasted for about 30 minutes.
Omaghomi said it took serious effort to get the seventh witness to appear in the court, alleging that the intimidation had been discouraging his witnesses in the case. But the judge was not convinced by the argument, maintaining that his court had handled more high profile cases than this one, stressing that “l don’t think that it is an issue at allâ€.“Let us measure what we say and how we say it,†he said, adding that “if you need security for your witness, you know what to do.â€
Oyewole said the EFCC as the stake in the case should be able to sort itself out, adding that the government always has an internal methodology of handling such situation.
