The former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore, has challenged multinational companies in the country to join hands with the Federal Government in developing the nation’s culture and tourism industry. In a chat with BusinessDay, at the venue of a mini Durbar, held at the Royal Equestrian Grounds, Abuja, which is part of the ongoing Abuja Festival, sponsored by Dangote Group, the former CJ said doing so would help promote the cultural heritage of Nigeria. Citing the case of Rio festival in Brazil, Belgore said people troop to the festival because it was developed and supported, noting that if the corporate world supports the efforts of the Federal Government in the culture and tourism sector, Nigeria and Nigerians would benefit immensely from the partnership. Tata Yusulf, group representative of Dangote Group of Companies, the major sponsors of the event, said since Dangote was a Nigerian company, anything that will help to support the growth and development of the country would be its priority.

It is a shame that all other big time business mogul in the country has left the sponsoring of the yearly Abuja Carnival in the hands of Dangote. They should take a cue from him and support the Federal Government.
