Following groundswell of speculations on the health status of President Umaru Yar’Adua in far away Saudi Arabia, David Mark, president of the Senate, has urged Nigerians to ignore those peddling rumours on the president’s health status.

Mark said people who indulged in spreading all manners of phantom speculations on the president’s condition of health do not mean well for Nigeria, adding that “it is all the handiwork of mischief-makers and I urge them to desist from such nefarious activities.”
According to him, “Since the president left for Saudi Arabia for medical check up, the organs of government has remained intact and functional. But in spite of this, some Nigerians have resorted to all kinds of rumours that can neither strengthen our development processes nor guarantee our much sought reforms. I urge you to ignore these rumour mongers as they do not mean well for our country and her people.”
Kola Ologbondiyan, special adviser, media to the president of the Senate in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, stated that the senate president gave the charge during a post-morning Mass tea session with members of the St. Mulumba (Apo Mansion) Chapel, Apo quarters, Abuja.
