•The new tariff starts today

In a strategic move to further grow its subscriber base, Globacom, Nigeria’s Second National Telcom Operator (SNO) has introduced a tariff package that enables subscribers make unlimited calls within the network (Glo to Glo calls) at a cost of only N40. The new tariff plan starts Wednessday and Globacom expects to increase its subscriber base by another five million within the next six months on account of this initiative. Paddy Adenuga, group executive director, Globacom, who spoke on Tuesday at a press conference held in Lagos, stated: “All Nigerians should not only come onto the Glo network but should also bring all their friends, family members and business associates to Glo so that they can talk endlessly with each other at virtually no cost.” In the same vein, Mohammed Jameel, Globacom’s group chief operating officer, said that having pioneered the ‘per second’ billing system in the country at a time other operators described it as possible, it became necessary for the network to introduce another big excitement targeted at enabling subscribers to communicate at an affordable rate. “Now with just N40.00 daily, our subscribers can make unlimited calls within the Glo network. Nowhere else have Nigerian been offered this golden opportunity. This is to enable them reach out to their friends and loved ones all over the country at a cost everyone can afford.” Jameel observed that the new offering would give Glo subscribers an unrivalled cost saving opportunity while at the same time offering them limitless calls within the network daily. He added that there was no limit to the number of Glo to Glo calls that subscribers who embraced the offering could make. “This is the next biggest thing to shake the telecommunications industry after per second billing and we are proud that, again, it is coming from Globacom”. He said subscribers could best feel the impact of the “Biig Dash” offering if they calculate what they would save daily from their telecommunications cost. “If, for instance, you were making an average of 10 calls per day at N30 or thereabout, that will add up to N300 per day and about N9,000 in a month. With the Biig Dash, that will drop incredibly to N40 per day. Beyond the huge savings on the cost of making calls, the icing on the cake in the package is the unlimited number of calls you can make to your business associates, friends and family members on the Glo network. It is probably the biggest revolution in the Nigerian telecommunications history”, Jameel said.
