The League Management Company (LMC) says eight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs will be listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) between September and October 2017.
Shehu Dikko, Chairman LMC disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, he said the LMC was working hard to meet the target date.
“We have done the advertisement for the advisers, all the big companies in Nigeria have applied to be part of the process. This shows that people are taking this our football more seriously than even what we think.
“Very soon we are going to unveil them, maybe next week; and then they will start working. Our target is September/October.’’
Eight clubs were unanimously approved for the listing at the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the LMC in Enugu on Dec. 11, 2016.
The clubs approved were: Rangers International, Enyimba International, Kano Pillars and El-Kanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists, Gombe United, Shooting Stars Sports Club and MFM FC.
The selected clubs were mandated to submit a letter of consent from their respective owners as a basic requirement to start the process.
The advisers to be appointed would work with the clubs and their owners to prepare the required documentation and structure for the listing of the clubs as well as to manage the process on their behalf.
Dikko also added that the set date of August 2017 had also been set for the completion of the listing process.
