Madu, a budding artiste with eyes on stardom

There is a new kid on the block. He is talented and most importantly, passionate about music, which he describes as his first love.

For the love of music, the young and emerging music artiste gave up his university education at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, though with a promise to get back to school someday.

Madu Vincent Chike, the budding artiste who hails from Anambra State, started his music career in 2010. Back then, he was known as Rexy Brown. Although, mainly self-taught, the artiste who stages as Madu is highly skilled in the production and mixing of music. He also plays different music instruments.

However, his passion for music, which made him to learn the intricacies of the Nigerian music terrain, is paying off as the emerging music act has been discovered and given a platform to excel in his chosen career.

Presently, Young Nation Limited, a talent management company founded by Kamal  Ajiboye, Nelson Ononiwu and Olisa Adibua in conjunction with Heritage Live Entertainment, owned by Kenneth Obalum, has unveiled the budding artiste. Speaking at the unveil, which took place recently in Lagos, Olisa Adibua, expressed a firm conviction that Madu is one people would connect with.

“Madu is a gifted young man. His journey so far has been good but now we are taking it to a whole new level. We believe that the connection between Young Nation and Heritage Live Entertainment is the catalyst that will propel Madu to the next level,” Adibua says.

Taking advantage of the unveil platform, Madu also released his first official single titled ‘Kampe’.

Speaking about the track, Madu states that there was a lot of inspiration behind the song.

“There are a couple of languages in the song including; Yoruba, Efik and Pidgin English. It is my first official single. I have other songs recorded already, but I decided to release this. ‘Kampe’ is a fusion of Afro pop and RnB. It is a love song dedicated to all the beautiful women out there. It urges them to be comfortable with the way they are,” he says.

The artiste, who is signed under Heritage Entertainment further said, “Kampe, is all about the concept behind the song. We decided to use Kampe because it is part of the song. It is part of the word I used in the song. The song is a kind of R&B and afro and it has this love song dedicated to all the beautiful women all there.

“Kampe simply means being the way you are. When we say, Kampe it means that something is confirmed; it means natural. It emphasis the way you are. It is a kind of a message I am passing to all the beautiful women out there that the way you look simply means kampe – God blessed the way you are”.

Speaking further on the credibility of the artiste, Adibua, says, “I also believe that we should sell what is in Nigerian and African. Madu is a well gifted guy and we have taken him to a whole new level. A lot of artistes that are big in Nigeria, Africa or world level now have been there. They have been there in the scene but they have not “blown” yet. They haven’t got to the level yet. For whatever reason whether it is because their music has not ripe or has not quite gelled.

“We believe the confluence between Young Nation and Heritage Entertainment as the catalyst that will propel Madu to get to the next level”.

Explaining the kind of music fans should expect from Madu, Adibua said, “I have listened to the question of what kind of music Madu does. Madu is versatile in music; he has so much fire to come with different genres. Madu understands his kind of music and where he is going. He has taken time for seven years to look at the scenario in the music industry and has surveyed the music industry before deciding what kind of music he wants to do”.
