Huawei to unveil video platform at AfricaCom

In a bid to assist carriers to develop and optimise video as a service, Huawei will unveil its Envision Video platform during the AfricaCom set to hold from 7-10 November, in Cape Town, South Africa.
AfricanCom is an annual pan-African technology, telecoms and media event. This year, organisers will be celebrating 20 years since commencement, by showcasing innovations in ICT and high level discussions on accelerating Africa’s digital revolution.
A statement from organisers of Africacom, stated that Huawei’s platform will support the latest “4K/Ultra High Definition, virtual realities and augmented reality.” Users experience will be significantly improved as a result of the technologies.
David Chen, director of Marketing & Solution Sales of Huawei, Southern Africa Region, described the platform as a message o operators and partners, “That in this golden era for video business, especially 4K video, we are ready and capable of helping them shape their vieo strategies to drive new revenue.”
There will be over 400 exhibitors and eleven thousand delegates at AfricaCom according to the statement.
Huawei’s theme for the November event is ‘Roads to New Growth’ with a focus on entrenching collaboration between operators and industry partners. The stakeholders will explore ways to build a successful ecosystem, “That will speed up return on investment (ROI) and achieve value-driven growth.”
Huawei will also kick off the event with the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Mate 10 Series, which is powered by the artificial intelligence (AI) Kirin 970, featuring a dedicated Nueral Processing Unit (NPU).
