At least One thousand participants including manufactures, corporate organisations, importers, foreign agencies, local, state and federal parastatals from across the globe have indicated interest to participate in the 1st TINAPA International Trade Exhibition slated for the Calabar the Cross River state capital.

The trade exhibition which has been fixed for the 25th of April to the 3rd of May 2008 is expected to attract participants from Western and Southern Africa, Europe, and Asia and is being organised by Whizzo Promotions, in association with the TINAPA Business and Leisure Resort, Calabar.
According to Aaron Anyanwu, Chief Executive Officer, Whizzo Promotions, several of the participants have written to confirm their interest and seek further information on how to be part of the exhibition.
He said the exhibition will provide participants and participating companies, the opportunity to showcase their businesses and establish relationships, adding that participating states and local governments will also use the exhibition to showcase the business and investment opportunities in their states and local government areas.
“They will have the platform to discuss with the business world and woo investors to their areas”, Anyanwu said. He observed that the exhibition which was originally planned to hold between 5th -15th of December, 2007 was rescheduled due to preparations for the annual Christmas festival and the Calabar Carnival.
anyanwu further disclosed that most of the exhibitors also called for the shift of the date to 2008 because they had exhausted their annual budgets for such events in 2007.

He explained that the choice of TINAPA as venue for the International Exhibition was because of its status as the premier African Business Resort and the conducive atmosphere it provides for the exhibition which he described as very significant not only to the economic development of not just Cross River state but to Nigeria as a whole.

For the state, Anyanwu said, the exhibition will provide opportunity to woo foreign investors to its huge tourism, agricultural and other business potentials as well as open the TINAPA Business and Leisure Resort to the entire world.

For Nigeria as a whole, he said the exhibition can be a veritable tool through which the federal government can further sell its vision of making the country as one of the twenty leading economies in 2020 popularly known as vision 2020.

He stressed that the event would not only be about leisure but also provide a lot of room for entertainment through music, beach parties and other several activities that will give participants fun and relaxation.

According Amavi Hounake, Whizzo’s director Operation, “the aim of the trade exhibition is to bring together Nigeria top business organisations and personalities, who are able and willing to enter into business transactions with their counterparts all over the world”.

He said it would also attract both indigenous and international exhibitors, participants and visitors within and across the shores of Nigeria added that the expected crowd is about two million visitors.

Hounake said Whizzo Promotions will provide exhibitors with exhibitor’s stand with an all inclusive interior.
