While noting that the chief hindrances militating against the achievement of the project has been resolved the Minister said that the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the project would be taken in the next 48 months.
Odusina made disclosure at the third Steering Committee meeting of the project, which began Monday in Abuja, stressing sufficient gas supply has been set aside for the next 25 years to kick-start the project.
Those in present were the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Chakib Khelil and the Nigerien Minister of Mines and Energy, Mohammed Abdoulahi.
“The development of the TSGP project has not gone without challenges,” he said. “One of the most critical was the issue of supply of gas to the project.
Though Nigeria is endowed with huge natural gas reserve, there were fears that gas may not be available for the TSGP project. It is my pleasure to state that the TSGP gas supply challenge was resolved early this year by the findings of a team of experts from Nigeria and Algeria that investigated the issue.”
