Customs confirms over 2671 Pump Action Rifles imported from Turkey

The Nigeria Customs Service NCS) has expressed its concerned over 2671 Pump Action Rifles imported from Turkey which appears to suggest complicity of Turkish government.
The comptroller- General of NCS, Hameed Ibrahim Ali who made the point at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Hakan Cakil who visited him at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja confirmed that four major seizures of the illegal arms came from Turkey.

According to the statement from Customs, the meeting which lasted for about two hours was frank, detailed with specific commitment and strategies to stem the ugly tide.

Highlight of the meeting according to th statement by the Customs spokesperson, Joseph Attah include that all the four shipments intercepted were false declaration on the bill of lading; that the Turkish Ambassador restated his country’s support for Nigeria’s security and wellbeing and that the Turkish government will cooperate with Nigeria in every step to deal decisively with those found involved.
