At least 4 people have been killed in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas of Benue state by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in fresh attacks less than a Week after more than 70 corpses of slain farmers were buried in Makurdi.
This is coming on the heels of the visit of Benue delegation to President Muhammadu Buhari to find prompt security measures to end the killings in the state even as  Inspector – General of Police, Idris Kpotun has relocated to the state to restore security.
Governor Samuel Ortom disclosed this Wednesday at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi when he received former military administrator of Benue State,  Dominic Oneya who led a delegation of his Foundation on a condolence visit to the Governor.
Ortom who said two women had been reportedly killed in Guma and two persons in Logo, stressed that pockets of killings were still going on in the state.
He reiterated the call on security agents to arrest the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore who are still issuing threats of resisting implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law in the state.
The Governor expressed appreciation to Oneya for identifying with people of the State in their trying moment, stressing that it was a demonstration of true friendship.
Governor Ortom stated that crises between herdsmen and farmers had lingered for years without anyone coming up with a bold step to address same, saying the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law in Benue was meant to permanently address the challenge.
Earlier, Oneya said his mission was to commiserate with the Governor and Benue people over the gruesome murder of 73 persons by herdsmen.
He stated that as the last military administrator of the state who handed over to former Governor George Akume, he considers the state as his home and would always identify with it in good and difficult times.
The former Benue Military Administrator who brought assorted food items to donate to the displaced persons to alleviate their suffering, prayed God to grant the souls of the victims eternal rest and the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.
Meanwhile, Governor Ortom has sued for cooperation from the organised labour to enable him beat down the outrageous wage bill so as to regularise payment of salaries to all Benue workers.
Ortom who stated this Wednessday during a solidarity visit to him by organized labour over the killings in the state at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi, assured that plans were in place to settle the salary challenge as he was more worried than the workers.
He thanked the organised labour for identifying with him, despite the challenge of salary payment that has made it impossible for his government to pay workers as and when due.
The Governor expressed worries that Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore was still threatening to unleash terror on Benue but security agencies have not apprehended their leadership for questioning and prosecution.
He said his administration had disarmed youths in the state to call for peace and  anyone wishing to live in Benue must obey the laws of the land.
On their part, the organised labour  described Benue State Governor as national protagonist in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria, in view of his proactive stance since the renewed attacks on Benue.
State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Godwin Anya who expressed condolences to the state government revealed that of the 73 identified victims of Fulani herdsmen attacks that were given mass burial recently, 15 of them were civil servants.
He lamented the wanton killing of innocent people  in the state by Marauding herdsmen and urged citizens of the state to protect themselves using any available means within the ambit of the law.
The labour leader pledged the support of the organised labour in fighting to restore peace to the people of Benue and charged the governor not to rest on his oars.
