The Nigeria brewery industry dominated by three brewery giants – Guinness, Nigeria Breweries and SABMiller – metamorphosed from a near duopoly to an oligopolistic competition. NB with promotional activities attached to majority of its brands recorded impressive performance in market share by 10 percentage points in seven years with Guinness and SABMiller trailing behind. BRIU survey also reveals that SABMiller’s Trophy is the most preferred beer brand in the market while Guinness was rated high in providing incentives to retailers.
