Delta Govt to partner private sector, as electronics firm hits market
Delta State from all indications appear to be increasingly becoming investment friendly. The new status of the state it is noted, follows that now permeant the state even the prevailing peace, as the government solicits the partnership of the organised private sector (OPS) in a bid better to revamp the economy of the state and create employment opportunities.
Deputy governor of the state, Amos Agbe Utuama (Professor) said in Warri at the commissioning of Overere Ultra-Modern Electronic Plaza, that the state government is ready to partner with the OPS in its quest to grow the economy.
Otuama assured investors that Delta state is now an investment haven as there is peace, expressing, the government desire to make the state economy private investor driven.
Th deputy governor who was represented by the state commissioner for industry and commerce, Chinwe Monu-Olarewaju said the state government is committed to its drive to partner with private sector.
Chief Executive Officer of the Overere Services Limited, Mathew Tone said the company is in the vanguard of the federal government’s policy on local content, having said the over 50 workers of the electronics giant are mainly Nigerians.
“Over the years, we have in our little way fulfilled our social responsibility by creating job opportunities for our teeming population of unemployed youths and today we can boast of over 50 dedicated staff which corroborates the Delta state government’s vision of Human Capital Development,” Tone said.
“ We hope to let this process be in continuum to help reduce youth restiveness in the Niger Delta region years ahead,.” He said.
According to him ,”Overere Electronics which is the reason why you are here today came on board to offer genuine services to member of the public and without gain saying, we have not failed our numerous customers across the oil-rich Niger Delta region and in fact the South-South diasporas”.
He said the secret behind the success of the company is the desire to serve people with genuine electronics appliances.
