Andrew Yakubu, group managing director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has been asked to appear before the House of Representatives to present a detailed report on the Oso condensate project.

Members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday endorsed a motion raised by Michael Opeyemi Bamidele to review the project, and have Yakubu appear before the committees on petroleum resources (upstream), petroleum resources (downstream) and gas resources in two weeks time.

While raising the motion before the House, Bamidele reminded his colleagues that the project’s Act was enacted in 1990 and wondered why nothing has been heard of the project 23 years after its enactment. He also expressed surprise that many Nigerians do not know what the project is all about.
