35 states generate N801.95bn in 2016 – NBS

Thirty-five (35) states of the federation realized a total sum of N801.95 billion as internally generated revenue in 2016.

According to the report released by the Nigeria Bureau of statistics (NBS)  on Thursday, Lagos State recorded the highest Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) with an increase from N268.22 billion in 2015 to N302.42 billion in 2016 and closely followed by Rivers State with an increase from N82.10 billion  in 2015 to N85.29 billion while Ebonyi State generated the lowest with a decrease from N11.03 billion in 2014 to N2.34 billion in 2016.

Anambra state is yet to report its Full Year 2016 Internally Generated Revenue figure, according to the report.

These Internally generated revenue were generated across the following types – PAYE, Direct Assessment, Road Taxes, Revenue from Ministries, Departments & Agencies and other taxes.

The report further shows that lagos state had the highest tax collection with a total sum of N253.82 billion followed by delta state with a figure of N41.673 billion while Rivers, Ebonyi and Anambra states had no record of tax collections.

The MDAs collection for 2016 Lagos state recorded N48.600 billion followed by Ogun state with a figure of N40.218 billion while Anambra, Bauci, Ebonyi, Imo and Rivers steates had no record of MDA collection for the year.
