Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has shown optimism for monetary easing, exchange rate appreciation, single digit inflation and overall macroeconomic stability in 2018.
Emefiele gave this assurance on Friday at bankers dinner organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos.
“We also believe monetary policy stance will change. When the underlying fundamentals become supportive, if the pace of this inflation becomes adequate and we see inflation at projected levels I am very optimistic that the monetary policy committee may begin to see strong justification for an easing of monetary policy which may further accelerate economic recovery process through reduced interest rate”, Emefiele said.
