National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, has inaugurated state caretaker committees for Lagos and Kwara States.

Recall that at the August 12 National Convention, the highest decision making organ of the party dissolved all executives in Kwara, Adamawa, Lagos, Borno, Osun, Ogun, Anambra and Kebbi States and asked the NCC to constitute caretaker committees in the affected states within three months.

Since then, six caretaker committees have been inaugurated in Anambra, Ogun, Kebbi, Borno, Lagos and Kwara States respectively.

With Wednesday’s inauguration, two caretaker committees are yet to be inaugurated in Adamawa and Osun States.

While Tunde Osolake chairs the Lagos Caretaker Committee, Tunde Akindehin heads the Kwara chapter.

Speaking at the inauguration of the two caretaker committees in Abuja on Wednesday, Makarfi assured that defectors into the party will be accorded equal rights and opportunities.

He also said the  window for reconciliation with aggrieved members will remain open in the face of reconstitution of state chapters of the party.

The Chairman said the major task before the caretaker committees is to set up local government and ward caretaker committees immediately; a development he explained, would end with state congress.

He urged those aspiring for elective positions at the state congress not to hold any seat in the caretaker committees.

“Power comes from God. In whatever we do, let us be guided by this singular knowledge. You can’t be too smart for God. You can’t be too rich or too poor. You must always have mutual accommodation for one another. This guiding principle will make it easier for us to live with one another,” Makarfi advised.
