Forty-four police officers who have been promoted from their former ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) have been decorated with their positions of  Deputy  Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Akwa Ibom  State police command.
Performing the decoration, Don Awunah, the commissioner of police,  commended the officers for their well deserved promotion.

Awunah who reminded them of the New Inspector General of Police (IGP) deposition to the welfare of the entire police force added  that since Inspector General of Police (IGP) came on board he has kept faith with rewarding hardworking members of the police force.

He said over  5000 officers  have been promoted by the IGP  since his assumption of duty few months ago.

“Motivation is the cardinal objectives of the police force; the new IGP has said that promotion is a continuum.

“As you are promoted if you run foul of the law you will be punished accordingly; there are pains and there is joy.

“I advised you to use your new position to be beneficial to yourselves, your families and the police force in general.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Gloria James who was promoted to the rank of DSP  thanked the commissioner of police and the management team for the honour done them and promised not to disappoint the police force.
